Summer of Fun-Week 5

Wow! What a week we have had! We can't believe June is over. We are afraid we are going to run out of time to do all of the fun things on our summer to do list.
Monday we made some slime. Tessa couldn't touch her slime. She hated the texture and said it was going to make her sick. After a few minutes of playing with his slime, Adam also decided that his was going to make him sick. So, I guess we'll stick with our Oobleck!

We caught up on our summer journals.

For Family Night, we spent the evening at Seven Peaks! It was a bit stormy, so the park was pretty empty. It was nice to have so much water all to ourselves!

Tuesday we started our day at gymnastics. Uncle Eddie and Aunt Dee came to watch Tessa.

Tessa decided to spend her afternoon cooking up some treats.

Sometimes we just need some afternoon snuggles.

Tessa's brownies were a hit!
We spent the afternoon at Salem Pond feeding the swans and ducks.

Gwen pants at any and all animals.

After our afternoon at the pond, we decided to cool off with an ice cream treat.

Wednesday morning we spent a couple hours at the park with some wonderful friends, the Schurter's, the Troyer's, and the Briggs.  It was good to see everyone and catch up!

Cute little Ellie has a HUGE crush on Adam and has for years. We haven't seen each other for over a year, but her mom says that she is always talking about how much she loves Adam and that she writes "Ellie Nielson" all the time. Ellie was shy to see Adam when she first got to the park, but after a while she told Adam she wanted to be his girlfriend and get married. I asked Adam what he thought about that, and he said, "That should be fine!"

Wednesday afternoon we hung out with a bunch of our neighbors at a water party. There were pools, water guns, hoses, sprinklers, and slip-n-slides. The kids had a blast and were good and worn out afterwards!

That evening, Eric and I took David out to Tucanos for dinner. He has been missing his Brazilian food.
Thursday was library day. We got to go fishing and read some fun fish stories.

One of my favorite parts of going to the library. When we get home, all the books we check out get dumped out and the kids dive into reading them.
Plum face!

Both Adam and Tessa had friends over to play on Thursday afternoon. It has been so, so hot outside, so we opted for some indoor activities. Adam and Rylan had some serious wii bowling matches and Tessa and Camdyn played house, drew each other pictures and used up a whole package of post it notes, and built tents for all their princess toys to go camping.

Friday, we spent a lovely morning up Payson canyon. It was nice to be somewhere cooler and enjoy some fresh air.

I made up a nature scavenger hunt for the kids to do while we were there.
Gwen found a squirrel.

Tessa found the perfect pet rock and named it, Rocko.
They also decided to start a rock collection. We came home with quite the pile of rocks to paint and decorate next week.

Gwen wasn't a fan of her dirty hands. Tessa told her, "Dirty hands means your having extra fun!" Well said!!
That afternoon called for some cooling off, so we hit the movies. We saw The Croods and loved it!
Saturday morning started out with a family bike ride. It was hot, but fun!

Gwennie helped Daddy water the trees.

We spent the evening in Manti seeing the Mormon Miracle Pageant. We had so much fun spending the day together and making new memories. It was a lovely evening!
Sunday we had a fun treat! Our cousins came into town and we got to spend the evening with them! Adam and Tessa got to have a sleepover at Mamma and Bampa's house with all the cousins and they were so excited!!!

The girls love to make costumes with the leaves from the willow tree.

Summer of Fun-Week 4

It has been another fun, but exhausting week!! There has been so much going on and the kids have been up late and up early everyday this week. We have also had some tummy bugs going around, but thankfully that didn't slow us down too much.
On Monday, Mommy, Adam, and Tessa spent a few hours at Seven Peaks with Jodi and her kids. It was a lot of fun, but we were worn out! Gwen got to spend the day with Mamma.
We have been having fun keeping track of our summer reading. As of Tuesday, Adam had read 16 chapter books and Tessa and Mommy had read about 16 books.
Not sure why, but Gwen's new favorite toys are the salad dressings. She gets them out of the fridge and then slides around the floor on them.
This was Adam's last week of baseball. He had a great game Tuesday night with a great hit! He was anxious to get home after the game because he had a very important NBA championship game to watch!

Wednesday was our David day!! A wonderful and emotionally exhausting day!
Thursday we made it to Story Time. This week was all about dogs. That held Gwen's interest for a bit.

She LOVES Pirate Booty! She eats it all the time.

Thursday was Adam's last baseball game. Ma, Pa, and Uncle David came down to watch him. He was so glad they came! (photos courtesy of Pa)

After the game, Uncle Danny and Ares came down to celebrate Danny's birthday and to watch the last NBA championship game with Adam and David. Adam was thrilled that the Heat won! Mommy was thrilled the game didn't go into overtime!
There have been a lot of neighborhood basketball games this week!
Friday was wedding day. We went to Tim Richards wedding and it was lovely.
Tessa was so excited to help clean the church after we ate lunch. She cleaned all the windows by herself and told everyone, "That's my job!"
Adam cracks us up with his reading everywhere we go.
Our Frusins-Amiee and Tim

Adam couldn't decided what to eat and what not to eat at the reception, so he settled on one of everything!
No Saturday morning cartoons for this boy....he wanted to finished reading Wayside School is Falling Down, for the third time.
Saturday was a day full of errands and cooking. Mommy prepared a lot of the food for David's homecoming on Sunday. One of our stops was the car wash. Gwennie is not a fan!

Sunday was David's homecoming. He gave a beautiful talk and is so full of the missionary spirit!
After church, he and Matt got a good brotherly wrestling match in before lunch.

Eric and David finally had a chance to talk about Recife. They spent a good two hours sharing stories and going through pictures.

Adam has made up for being sick...he made himself a rice krispy/cookie sandwich.
Gwen finally let Uncle Danny hold her and they took a nice nap together. They eventually made their way to a blanket and slept for about an hour. It was cute!
Tessa is still loving gymnastics and has been busy drawing everyone she knows pictures. She is quite the little artist.
Eric also completed his first full year of school this week! One down, one to go!! He has the month of July off of school, so we are looking forward to spending some much needed time together!!
