Adam Turns 10!

On May 25th, our baby turned 10! Double digits! He was thrilled. Mommy...not so much. My babies need to stay babies longer. The night before his big day, we went out for a special birthday dinner with just Adam, Mom, and Dad. He picked his traditional spot of Iggy's, so he could get a yummy burger and watch some sports. Lucky for him, a basketball playoff game was on and he was in heaven.

As soon as we sat down, his eyes never left the giant screen.

Our big 10 year old! He was so excited to finally have his birthday fall on a school day. He took treats for all of his classmates and even had a special part in the Memorial Day assembly that afternoon.
He was surprised to wake up and find the house decorated and a giant cinnamon roll waiting for him.
He asked for a strawberry cake for his birthday, so Mommy spend most of the day preparing his very strawberry birthday cake. It was yummy!

We invited all of the family over to celebrate with us. We were glad some of them were able to join us.

He couldn't wait to open his presents!

 The handsome birthday boy!

He got all 10 candles with that big breath he took!

Happy 10th Birthday, Adam!! We love you and are so proud of you!

BYU Fun!

We have spent the last 2 Saturday's at BYU, taking advantage of some of the fun things they have had going on. Last Saturday, Daddy took Adam and Tessa to the Chemistry Lab where they were doing a science day for kids. Adam and Tessa got to learn about science, do some experiments in the lab, watch a science magic show, and even eat some ice cream they made with liquid nitrogen. They had a great time! Tessa was in science heaven!

I love this picture of her raising her hand. She was so in her element!

There was a lot going on this past Saturday as well, so we tried to take advantage of as much as we could. The Museum of People's and Cultures was having a special visitors day, where we got to do a lot of fun activities, make crafts, and learn about archaeology. The kids got their faces painted, got to grind corn, make corn husk dolls, learn about Indians, and dig for arrowheads.

We planned on having a picnic lunch while we were on campus, but the weather did not cooperate, so we took our picnic to the Wilk and ate in there.
Adam played the piano and people stopped to watch him play. That made Mommy more nervous than Adam.
Tessa wanted to be a picture.
After lunch, Mommy took the little kids home and Daddy and the big kids stayed on campus for more fun. The Erying science building was hosting Astrofest! So the kids got to spend their afternoon learning about space! They saw a show in the Planetarium, launched rockets, checked out the giant telescope, and lots of other fun things!

They even got to go inside the anechoic chamber. They said it was kind of creepy to have no noise.
Tess got to hold a real meteorite from space!
And they had bounce houses. It couldn't have been more fun!
We had heard that there might be some special visitors at our Costco last weekend, so before we called it a day, we all headed to Costco to see who might be there. Caleb heard the Imperial March music before we even got up to the store entrance and he tried darting for the store on his own. When we got up to the entrance and he saw 2 Storm Troopers standing there, his eyes got huge!! He even had his Darth Vader toy in one of his hands. The Storm Troopers were so nice and gave high fives to everyone and played around with Caleb a bit. They could tell from all of our reactions to Caleb, that we were really there for him. He couldn't take his eyes off of them! It was super cute. They took pictures with us and it was the perfect ending to a very fun family day!

Nephi's Bow

Last week, our Family Home Evening lesson was highly entertaining. Tessa was in charge and I gave her the assignment of teaching us the story of Nephi and his broken bow. She decided she wanted us to act out the story. She assigned everyone a part and then read us the story. When she wanted one of the characters to say something, she would whisper their line to them .
Tessa assigned herself the part of the talking camel. She thought the talking camels in the Bob Hope movie we recently watched were hilarious, so therefore we needed to have one in our play.

Our lesson was anything but reverent, but we had a lot of fun and this is one of those nights that we will remember for a long time. After our "lesson", we made our own bows and arrows out of popsicle sticks and Q-tips.

Mommy/Adam Date Night

Last Thursday, Mommy and Adam went on a date. We rode our bikes along the river trail and rode all the way to Wendy's, where we stopped for a treat and some time to talk. It was a beautiful evening and we had a fun time together.

Daddy stayed home with the other kids and played in the backyard. They played dragons, princesses, and knights. But then they made up a new game with all of our colored balls. Each color was assigned a different action, so when you got hit with the ball, you had to do that action. From what Adam and I heard when we got back, it was a hilarious game.

Weekend Fun

We were a few days late having our Cinco de Mayo feast. It was a busy week, so we finally got around to it on last Saturday. We had quite the spread and we are all pretty sure we would be totally fine eating all this delicious food all the time! It was yummy!

After dinner, we were all tired out from a long week and a busy Saturday. Mommy introduced the kids to Bob Hope and we had a fun evening watching and laughing at Princess and the Pirate and Road to Morocco. Adam has been reciting lines from Princess and the Pirate all week, and Tessa loved the talking camels and incorporated them into our FHE lesson this last week. There's nothing like some good, clean comedy for some family fun!
