Family Home Evening

Since Monday was not such a great day for me with my Grandma passing away, Eric decided that we needed to do something fun for family home evening. We have been wanting to take Adam bowling and we thought this was a good night to do it. We headed over to Cougar Lanes at BYU and had a lot of fun. Adam loved it and every time he let his ball go, he jumped up and down until his pins were down. It was a nice distraction and I have a feeling this is something we will be doing more often.

Here comes the jumping!
For some reason Tessa hated it! Every time the pins went down she screamed and would shake cause she was so mad. We have no idea why she didn't like it-it wasn't even noisy!

Believe it or not, I use to be on a bowling league when I was like 13. I am still pretty good if I do say so myself. I got a strike on my first run-and I was holding Tessa! Eric still beat me by about 10 points.
What a pose!

Grandma Wanlass

My sweet Grandma left us this morning. After 19 years without Grandpa, they are together again. I am so grateful she is pain free now, but that doesn't make saying goodbye any easier. I will always be grateful for the times I was able to spend with her growing up and I am so glad she was able to know Adam and Tessa. She taught me about how to be a happy person and how to look for the positive in things. I am grateful I was able to hear her voice one last time this weekend. I will miss her so much!! I love you Grandma!

She won't sit still for me to read anything to her, but she loves to look at books all by herself. If you can't hear her, you will find her in a pile of books reading to herself. Precious!

Alphabet Playgoup

Good neighbors are a blessing! Living in so many places the last few years has been challenging at times, but we have almost always had wonderful neighbors. In Ogden we had the Littemore's, in St George we had Desiree, Falon, Christy and their awesome families and now we have the Little's (just to name a few). My sweet neighbor wanted to start a very low key playgroup for her girls who are a year older and a year younger than Adam. This week was our first day and since we invited other mom's from the neighborhood, we started with a get to know you day. Adam has been excited for days-even though he plays with these kids daily. He was asked to bring his favorite thing to share with everyone. Lightning McQeen joined us and when Adam was asked why he liked Lightning he said, "cause he is red and fast and shiny!" Next week we start with letter A.
So excited to play!

Applesauce

Last week my mom and I canned applesauce. It reminded me of growing up-we always were canning something, and it was always a family event. I had fun doing it in my house for my own family. I am going to have to do more before the season is over cause my kids are devouring it!

Saturday is a special day!

I love fairs! My parents took us kids all the time when we lived in California and it was always something we looked forward to. We would spend hours looking at animals and watching demos and we loved all the exhibits with quilts and baked goods. It taught us to appreciate the hard work of others-at least that is what I got out of it. Plus, we always got to ride the big yellow slide and get "fresh" chocolate milk. The Utah State Fair is up and running and due to my love of fairs, we packed up the kids and spent a few hours there today. We had a great time!
I couldn't resist a pony ride for my boy!! He loved it and loved that the pony's name was "macaroni".

Tessa LOVED the bunnies!!

Our favorite animal of the day...the piglets. Sorry Macaroni!

A very happy boy-he found race cars!

Mommy and Adam after their ride on the big yellow slide. Adam screamed like a girl the whole way down and after he realized it was over said, "Let's do it again!".

After the fair we headed to my parents place for dinner. It is Oktoberfest! The Lemley side of my family is from Germany and we like to celebrate our heritage. My Dad cooks his super yummy German food and we get to enjoy it!
Dad's delicious bratwurst

The best German potato salad and other German dishes that I don't know the names of.

Since we can't have the real thing, we indulge on apple beer.

Our wonderful friends the Richards celebrating with us. I was upset when I was younger and found out that Uncle Scott and Aunt Maggie weren't really my aunt and uncle. Their kids and my siblings and I all grew up playing together. It is fun to now watch the next generation of kids play together.
Uncle David being an awesome uncle
And best of all-GO COUGARS!!!! Another awesome win today!!

Bedtime Prayers

Adam's prayer last night was simply this: "Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for President Monson and thank you for the Y on the mountain. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."
