Fall Break 2016-Part 1

We were so anxious for Fall Break to arrive this year. We were needing a break from school and some quality time together. We managed to squeeze in a ton of fun, so it was an awesome week!
Monday after chores were done, we had a fun lunch from Arctic Circle. The kids always love getting their Halloween flashlights this time of year.

After lunch, we built a huge fort in the living room and Mommy read ghost stories to the kids.

We also made spider cookies on Monday afternoon and that evening, we "boo'd" our neighbors with our spooky treats.
For FHE that night, we went on a fun Halloween cruise down the Provo river. It was a fun and slightly spooky evening, but most all, we just had fun. We had a funny Pirate who took us on our boat ride. He told us a new, spooky version of Little Red Riding Hood.

Caleb is just amazed by all the Halloween things everywhere we go! He's afraid of Spooky Spiders though.

Tuesday morning, Mommy took Gwen to dance and then met up with Aunt Jodi for lunch. (It's nice when Adam is home to babysit!) In the afternoon, we headed down to the Big Red Barn to get some delicious apple cider. That's one of our Fall Break traditions. And of course, you can't go to the Big Red Barn and not get ice cream. Even in October.
Adam's feet are getting too big to make ghost feet, so we tried ghost hands instead. But, we decided we like ghost feet better. Guess I'll just have to find bigger paper for Adam.

Tuesday night, we gathered at Aunt Dee's house with the rest of the family for a Great Pumpkin Party. We had dinner and watched It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Well, we sort of watched it. We all pretty much recited the entire thing. What can we say? It's a family classic!
Caleb loved watching it though, and we all loved watching him laugh at Snoopy.

Our Crazy Weekend

After our super late night at the football game, Adam, Mommy, and Gwen got up super early to help plant flowers along Main Street. Gwen sang the whole time and kept everyone entertained.
Daddy took Tessa to her last day of ice skating lessons. She passed level 1 with flying colors. Her instructors really wanted her to take private lessons so she can advance more quickly, but we decided to sign her up for level 2 and see how that goes. She is loving her time on the ice!
Saturday we got yard work done, ran a bunch of errands, and got the garage cleaned up. After all the chores were done, Daddy took the kids on a nice walk along the beautiful river trail while Mommy got dinner ready.

Saturday evening we had the Sister Missionaries over for dinner. It's always so nice to have the missionaries in our home. They were amazed at how many books we have.
After the missionaries left, we took the kids up to Maple Dell to go on a spooky Halloween hike. We went on the kids hike, which was crazy lame. After the kids listened to a few Halloween stories, we decided to brave the more adult hike. The kids were pretty terrified and Caleb refused to look up. He buried his head into Eric's chest and we could hardly pry him off when we got in the car to leave. Hearing Tessa scream at the top of her lungs only made us laugh. So...we won't be getting any excellent parental awards anytime soon. But as soon as we got in the car, everyone admitted they had fun, even though they were freaked out.

Sunday we went to church and then Mommy needed a day off. So we watched movies all afternoon and relaxed. It was just what we needed after a crazy Saturday.

Go Cougars!!!

Adam and Mommy got to have a fun night out together at a BYU football game. It was a late game, that didn't even start until 8:15pm. Mommy wasn't sure she'd stay awake through the whole thing, but with the way Adam screams through the entire game, that really wasn't a problem.
We splurged and got our favorite thing to eat-Cupbop!! It was delicious! At least I think it was. I kind of inhaled mine.
 Love being at home games!
Adam spying on the pre-game show.

He got to try on one of Taysom's helmets. He said it was heavy!
We got to cheer on Jamaal as he broke a school record!

As if the game wasn't late enough, it went into double over time and we finally won!! But it was well after midnight by that point.

I had one happy Cougar fan with me!
The crowds swarmed the field and we had a fun time celebrating an awesome win with everyone around us!

Mommy School-Johnny Appleseed

Last week for Mommy School, we learned about apples and Johnny Appleseed. For our last big activity, Gwen helped Mommy make a delicious apple cake. She did all the measuring and mixing and of course had the most important job of licking the beaters.

Her final product was delicious! We couldn't even wait for the other kids to get home from school before we dug in for a taste!

Beautiful Midway, Utah

Mommy and Daddy got to run away for a few hours and we escaped up to beautiful Midway. I kept telling everyone we were celebrating our 10th, 11th, and 12th anniversaries and celebrating Daddy finishing his Masters Degree. Better late than never! We enjoyed the crisp fall air and beautiful colors. We got to swim in the crater and enjoyed some yummy, quiet meals together.

Don't tell us you have 15 different salsa's, cause we will try them all!
Mommy got treated to a cup of amazing hot chocolate!

We splurged and got a massage with a gift card we had. It was Daddy's first real massage and he decided he could definitely do that again.

We would have loved a few more hours away, but we happily took what we could get. It will tie us over for another few years.
