Festival of Colors

Saturday I took Adam to the Krishna temple festival of colors.   There were hundreds of people and just walking on the street to the temple we got pelted with colored "chalk".
At 1:00 pm they did a countdown and people threw the colors into the air.  The rest of the time though everybody was throwing color on each other and even on random strangers.  It was a lot of fun.

Adam had a bandanna and safety glasses to keep "chalk"out of his mouth and eyes.  He was fine though because it wasn't chalk.  It was more like flour and was soft and very fine.
Since Adam's head wasn't covered with a hat his blonde hair become a favorite target of people around us.

We each had a different color.  Adam was Green, Katy was Pink, Matt was Purple,  Briette was Yellow and I was Orange

Adam thought it was super cool because he's
normally supposed to stay clean but that day he was
expected to get as messy as possible.  He loved it!

Adam had color in just about every nook and cranny.  He apparently got pelted real good behind his right ear with some pink.

This is a pic of us leaving.  It was a surreal scene because to the right there was a long line of  multicolored people leaving and to the left a long line of clean white shirts ready for the next color throwing.

We decided to take my car because it is a beater and I figured the color could only improve it.
It was a fun day

City Creek!

We (ok, Mommy) has been so excited for City Creek to open in Salt Lake City. It has been exciting to see it come to life over the last 10 years and see how much Salt Lake has changed since Daddy and Mommy were kids. We headed up to Salt Lake Friday afternoon after Adam was finished with school. We were not disappointed! City Creek is beautiful and we had so much fun walking around and checking out all the new sites of downtown.
Tessa, Daddy, and Adam in front of the big fountain.
Mommy was excited to see the new Tiffany's store! We didn't think the kids would care, but as soon as Tessa saw those sparkly diamonds, she was mesmerized! She wouldn't leave the store until she had seen everything. I think we might be in trouble!

We got to see a water show on the fountain.
The crowds made it feel more like Disneyland. We even waited in a line to get into the Disney store.
Gwen was a bit traumatized by it all.
The kids loved the Disney store and got to do some coloring while we were there.
As we were leaving we came across this pretty statue. Adam went to stand by it to have his picture taken with it, when it grabbed him and wouldn't let go!! We waited for several minutes while the statue just kept pulling Adam closer and closer. Every time he tried to leave, the statue pulled on him tighter. He thought it was hilarious and laughed SO hard!

Then Tessa got a turn! She liked hanging out with the funny statue.
We had a fun family day and were happy to be apart of Utah history.
