Summer of Fun!

This week we have officially kicked off our Summer of Fun! We have 3 jars that are full of different  activities for each week of the summer. One jar has places we are going to go, one jar has activities and games we will do and play, and the last jar has different activities we will do with food and cooking. The kids have loved picking what our activities for the week will be.
We start each day with devotional. For right now, our devotional includes reading an article from The Friend and having morning prayers. We do this doing the school year as well, but since we have more time during the summer, we throw in a chapter book for Mom to read aloud. On Wednesday we already finished our first book, "Mrs. Piggle Wiggle". Tessa loves saying, "Mrs. Piggle Wiggle".
Monday night we went over to North Park and enjoyed a wonderful concert in the park. The kids favorite part was hearing the music from Star Wars and seeing different Star Wars characters who came and wondered through the crowd. Adam loved seeing the bad pilots and Tessa like Princess Leia.

Before the concert began, Adam and Tessa found pictures in the clouds. Tessa kept finding animals and Adam found several countries, including Russia and America.

Adam gets his math and writing practicing in while he plays his basketball games. He plays for several hours a day and will literally take 20 minute halftimes. He plays for both teams and keeps score for both of them. Each day he writes 2 new teams on the board. On Sunday's, the board  has the name of 2 teams, but the scores stay at 0 all day long since he can't play basketball on the Sabbath.
Adam loves to read and is reading everyday for the summer reading program at the library. The other day he read Gwen her BYU board book.
On Tuesday the kids found several "treasures" to freeze so we could see if they would sink or float. They waited patiently for 2 days to dig everything out!
They painted rocks to be their markers for Tic Tac Toe.

We've had art time. Tessa is quiet the little artist! She would make her Great Grandpa Lemley proud!

Not only did Tessa write her own name, but she wrote Adam's name as well. She wrote a b instead of a d, but still, that is pretty darn amazing for her age...and she just does it on her own.
We went to Storytime at the library. I always tell the kids they can pick like 4 books each to check out, and we always come home with at least 20.
Today, (Thursday) they played some backyard Tic Tac Toe and got to dig all of their "treasures" out of the ice ball we made.

Sweet little Gwen is a perfect angel who just goes with the flow! She loves her little ducky and is talking and squealing so much now! She is going to have a fun summer with all the activities we have planned!
We have lots more to come! Hopefully I can keep up with it all.
