Geography Bee

Last week, Adam and Tessa competed in their class Geography Bee's. Tessa came in 3rd place for her class and Adam won his class competition. He went on to compete against all the other winners in the school. Grades 4-9 competed after the class competitions.

He was nervous and excited. I think I was way more nervous than he was.
Adam did an amazing job and came in 2nd place!!! He and the 7th grader who won, were caught in a tie and it came down to their 4th tie breaker question about snow leopards. Adam was so pleased with his effort and we were incredibly proud of him! He said he was kind of glad he didn't take first place because he was afraid he would be too nervous to compete on a state level.

He got this awesome medal and a great certificate for his scrapbook!

December Happenings

As if Christmas time wasn't crazy enough, we have had so much going on with life in general.
Adam started basketball practice, and is looking forward to games starting in a couple of weeks.

Daddy took a business trip and traveled to Ohio, Virginia, and Florida. He got to see the Kirtland Temple and Williamsburg while he was gone.
Our singing snow people still bring hours of entertainment for the kids.
Mommy's grocery shopping trips have led to some very late nights.
Caleb helped put groceries away on afternoon and spotted the ice cream. I didn't have the energy to fight him when he insisted on having it for lunch.
One of our service activities was making hot chocolate and taking it to our mail carriers.
Cute Adam still sleeps in his Santa hat.

Tessa finished up her last week of ice skating. She passed off level 2!

Tessa was also thrilled to get a Pen Pal!
Tessa and Mommy got to spend a morning out together. We decided to go to a book signing by Al Caraway. Tessa was excited to meet Al and begged me for her own copy of Al's book. Al was so nice to Tessa and talked to her for a minute and signed her book.

Festival of Lights!

On Saturday, we took the kids to see Festival of Lights. It was a rainy night, perfect for looking at Christmas lights from the car. Caleb was so fun this year, He was just amazed by everything! We all loved hearing him get excited about everything he saw. We finally realized how large his vocabulary actually is. He especially loved all the dinosaur lights.

Sunday was our 3rd week of Advent. We love this tradition and look forward to it every week.

Grinch Dinner

Last week we had our annual Grinch dinner! This is still one of our favorite Christmas traditions. The kids played Pin the Heart on the Grinch, we had a lovely Grinchy dinner and Grinch cookies for dessert while we watched..."The Grinch".

Christmas Time Fun!

Mommy needed to keep the kids entertained one evening while I made dinner, so I gave them a candy cane and told them to play hot and cold. It worked like a charm. They were entertained for over an hour and had a ball.

Showing off their new Christmas jammies. We have enjoyed spending our evenings reading Christmas stories and talking about the Light the World program and what we can do to participate each day. This picture is from one evening where we talked about the scriptures and we each shared our favorite scripture story with each other. I loved hearing the kids talk about the scriptures.
Mommy and Daddy got to sneak away and go to Daddy's work party for dinner and to see Vocal Point.
Aunt Katy babysat the kids and made some fun treats with them.

Mommy, Adam, and Tessa got to go to a Christmas Creche. We loved seeing all the different nativity sets.

Father Christmas

Last Monday night, before bed, the kids got to put their shoes out for Father Christmas.
Caleb was thrilled, as you can see.

Father Christmas came, filled their shoes, and left everyone new pajamas. Christopher also came! The kids were so happy to see him the next morning.
They were so excited to see what was in their shoes the next morning.

Caleb wasted no time making a dent in his candy.
