Zoo Day!

Today the kids and I spend a good chunk of our day at the Hogle Zoo. We had a wonderful time, but missed having Eric with us.
Zoo Day July 26, 2011

My brave children touching a snake!
Their favorite part of the day was watching the baby elephant.

There is a fun dinosaur exhibit at the zoo right now. They have different dinosaurs all over the zoo that move and make dinosaur sounds. One even spits at you. Adam LOVED them!! Tessa wanted nothing to do with any of them!

I finally convinced Tessa that this dinosaur was a statue. That is the only reason she got close to it.

Both kids have grown since our last visit to the zoo!
We spent a long time watching the giraffes. Two of them came right up to us!

Watching a squirrel monkey play with its tail.

We saw a show while we were there and the kids got to touch an opossum and a snake after the show was over.

This was Tessa's immediate reaction every time we got near a dinosaur. Even if it wasn't making noise. We had a fun day and are thankful we are getting to do so many fun things together this summer!

Weekend Fun!

I was lucky enough to have the weekend off so we packed it full of fun things (including the flu)!
I did have to work most of Friday, but when I got home that evening we took the kids down to Fiesta Days and had some fun there. We splurged and let the kids ride their favorite carnival ride....the super slide! This was the one ride my siblings and I got to ride when we went to the fair when I was growing up and the tradition continues. Those rides are ridiculously priced!
They loved it and caught some serious air at the bottom of the slide. Adam went from his bum to his knees. That kind of freaked him out.

We got some snow cones to cool off after walking around for awhile. Now we get to check that off our summer "to do" list.

Showing off their mustaches.

We splurged some more and let the kids try a funnel cake.

Wrestling in the park with Daddy.
Tessa really needs to work on her picture taking skills.
Saturday evening took us to the Richards home where we enjoyed good company and good food. We had a dutch oven dinner and the kids had fun seeing all of the animals. They have new chicks and the kids loved watching them run around. We got to see the pigs get their slop, feed the horses, and watch the cows tease Molly the dog.
On Sunday afternoon Eric was in meeting most of the day, so the kids and I went on a little excursion. Some home builders have built a real life "Up" house. When I saw this on the news a while back I added it to our summer list. They are supposed to fly balloons from the chimney on the weekends, so we were disappointed there were no balloons when we got there. It is still a darling house and the kids loved it! For $400,000 it can be yours. Adam totally wants to buy it!

Next we headed to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple for some pictures. It was a beautiful afternoon!

On our way home we stopped by the grocery store for a quick picture with one of the floats due to appear in tomorrow's Pioneer Day/Fiesta Days parade.
It has been a fun filled weekend (minus the flu bug). I can't wait to have more weekends off with everyone!

Potty Training

For the last week and a half we have been working on potty training Tess. She is so much harder than Adam! He took 2 days and was about 6 months younger than she is when I potty trained him. It has been a long week and a half for me! She is slowly getting it though. Today has been the first day she has told me she has to go potty. Usually it is me asking her every hour and a half or so. She is excited to be a big girl and considering how busy we have been this summer, she is doing very well. It's a good thing we have another baby coming soon cause I can't stand that my babies at home are growing up so fast!

She gets a princess sticker every time she goes potty.

Last night we had the most gorgeous sunset! The sky looked like it was on fire.

Payson Temple

Tonight for Family Home Evening we took a little drive to Payson to show the kids where our new temple is going to be built. We feel very blessed to have another temple so close to us! Even though it is still just a field, there is already a special feeling there. The kids both started singing "I Love To See The Temple" as they walked through the field. I am grateful that they love temples so much!
Adam always calls the Angel Moroni, Captain Moroni. We tried to explain there was more than one Moroni in the Book of Mormon. He finally got tired of our explaining and said, "Can't I just call him Captain Moroni? I like him the best."

Summer Fun

We have been having fun playing outside in the mornings while it is still cool. Adam loves his sandbox!

For some reason that hat Adam is wearing is his new favorite hat to wear outside.

Take Me Out To The Ballgame!

Last night for Family Home Evening we went to the Orem Owlz game. (Tessa calls them the orange owlz). We ate Hoot Dogs and had lots of fun watching the game! Go Owlz!
