Thursday we got ready to head up to Bear Lake for the weekend. Gwen was less than helpful as I tried to pack. She pulled things off the table and out of bags as fast as I packed them up.
Eric left work a little bit early and we hit the road as soon as he was home. We love Bear Lake and being able to spend the weekend there with our entire Nielson side of the family was so much fun!!
We weren't at the cabin 5 minutes before all the kids were in the hot tub. Bampa was a trooper and played with them all for quiet a while. Tessa did not want to swim in hot water, but after some coaxing from Aunt Lisa, she finally got in and then we couldn't get her out.
Friday and Saturday we spent at the lake. It was beautiful and we had so much fun! When we got there on Friday, Gwen was about ready for a nap. She hated the sand and wanted nothing to do with playing in it! We decided to take her out on the boat to see if that would put her to sleep like it use to do to Tessa. No such luck. All she wanted to do was play in the water without a life jacket. So she pretty much screamed the entire time we had her on the boat. Once we got off, I snuggled her for a bit and she went right to sleep.
She hated the life jacket, but she wore it for a few minutes.
Our first boat ride!
Uncle Jeremiah, Daddy, Tessa and Adam
Uncle Jake takes us out far into the lake and then we get out and swim a bit. That was all Gwen wanted to do and she didn't want anyone helping her!
Ellie learning to water ski and Zeke just being cute!
Cute little Rees. She and Gwen became good buddies over the weekend. Especially when it came to playing with the water fountain at the cabin!
That's Tessa under her hat somewhere.
August and Gwen sleeping. Roxy decided to get comfy too.
Adam and Zeke taking a break.
Everyone had so much fun playing in the water. Mamma is a genius and she brings small air mattresses for the kids to use as rafts! Tessa and Daddy played "Queen of the Raft", and Daddy pushed Tessa around on her raft while he looked for shells in the sand.
Tessa with some of her shells from her fun Daddy!
After her nap, Gwen was much more agreeable and she decided that she liked playing in the sand.
Reese and Gwen
Aunt Lisa and August
Cute Wynn
Zeke, Paige and Tessa
These 3 were so fun to watch! They spent hours playing together, collecting shells, digging in the sand and playing Super Hero.
Aunt Jana and Clementine
Gwennie and Clemmie
Saturday Tessa was moody with a capital M!! She was worn out and ready to go home. She can only handle so much excitement apparently. The day started out cold and rainy which didn't help her disposition. She was happy one minute and upset about something the next. She crashed pretty fast that night and I knew she was overly tired. These pictures pretty much sum up her day!
Gwennie was loving the beach!
Adam having a quick snack before hitting the water!
Daddy, Gwen, Big Uncle Ben and Clementine
Uncle Ben and Uncle Jer rented some Sea Doo's for everyone to ride on Saturday because the water was too choppy to take the boat out. Adam had so much fun riding with Daddy. He loved hitting the waves and going super fast!!
Tess was brave and gave it a try. She told Eric that she didn't want to go fast because that made her heart beat fast. I told her that meant she was excited and she replied, "I don't like to be excited". See what I mean? Moody:) They went slow and she had fun doing that.
Saturday night we had an awesome rain storm roll through. The storm looked awesome on the lake!
Uncle Matt took Gwen out to see the rain. She is always amazed by rain.
We attempted to play the candy bar game. It didn't go exactly as planned, but in the end, everyone got candy and was happy. I suppose that means it was a successful game.
Even the babies got in on the candy action!
Then Bampa told all the grandkids the story of the Bear Lake Monster!
After the story, the kids decided to climb up the hill behind our cabin to look for Monster tracks.
Tessa insisted that she and Rees had found one!!!
It was a wonderful weekend and we had so much fun with everyone. I was sad to have it end so quickly. On our way home on Sunday, we stopped by the new Brigham City Temple. It was beautiful and the kids loved how bright it was.
We had a good trip home. We are lucky to have such good little travelers. Gwen does so well in the car-even though she looks miserable when she sleeps.
Another fun week and a wonderful trip under our belts. We love our family and are so thankful for the time we got to spend with them!
