Today was an exciting day!! Uncle David returned from Recife, Brazil after serving for 2 years as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! We have been counting down the days to see him for weeks....ok, more like 2 years! David lights up any room he is in and just knows how to make people feel loved. We have missed his fun personality! We are so proud of him for serving so faithfully and returning with honor, and we are so glad he is home!
We tried to wait patiently for his plane to arrive!
Katy and Gwen
Davey Baby!! He's finally home!
Happy tears were shed. He looks so grown up! I have missed him terribly!!
Meeting Gillian for the first time.
David and his "brother from another mother", Henry.
Getting to meet Gwen. She was confused and not sure about him.
These kids have been so excited to have their Uncle David home!
David requested lunch at In-n-Out on our way home.
Eric couldn't make it to the airport, but he stopped by the house between work and study group to say hi to Dave. David greeted Eric with an excited, "Shnookie Poo"!!!
We met with President Kilpack this evening to have David be officially released as a missionary. It was an emotional hour as David bore testimony of the gospel and missionary work. It was wonderful to see how much he has grown in the gospel and as a person. I am so proud of the man he has become and the adversity he has overcome the last 2 years. He shared some beautiful experiences he had while he was in Brazil and I can't wait to hear more. He did not want to be released and when the moment finally came to take his tags off, many tears were shed. I loved seeing how much being a missionary meant to him.
After we got back from meeting with the Stake President, David was a nice Uncle and played some basketball with Adam. Adam has been dying to play with Uncle David, so getting released could not come fast enough for Adam! They played a good game and David beat Adam by 1 point! David was pretty impressed with Adam's basketball skills and Adam has several more games planned for them in the next few days!
Welcome Home Davey Baby!!! We are so glad to have you back with us!!
