We had another fun and busy summer week last week. Monday, the kids got to stay and play at Mamma and Bampa's house with their cousins for a good chunk of the day. Gwen was a bit lost without her brother and sister around. It gave us a glimpse of how our life will be next year with Adam and Tessa both in school. Very different!!
Tuesday was blazin' hot, but we decided to tough it out and we went up to Salt Lake with Ma, David, Andrew and Ares to the Tracy Aviary. We had fun seeing so many beautiful birds. It was a fun afternoon!
Adam and Tessa had a lot of questions about some of the birds we saw during a bird show.
With a bald eagle! Tessa said, "It's not bald! It just looks like it's bald!"
Adam was happy to find this BYU tree!
Uncle David and Gwennie
Wednesday we met up with Ma and Pa in Orem and went to Scera Park to see the Independence Day festivities they had going on there. They had several Colonial period displays and activities for the kids. We had fun trying everything out.
They said carrying the water was horrible! Maybe they won't complain about their chores anymore.
Adam learned how to make a rope and Tessa learned how to make a bracelet.
Uncle David was a sweetheart and followed Gwen around while I took pictures of Adam and Tessa.
Adam and Tessa got to go to school!! Tessa was so excited! They learned about how school was back in the 1700's. They had to bow and curtsy, wear hats and bonnets and write on slates.
They were given an arithmetic problem. Tessa was the first one to get her answer right!
Adam tried to keep up with the older kids problems and he got his answer correct as well!
They took a spelling test.
They made letters with their bodies to get some of their wiggles out.
Tessa loved going to school and is even more excited for Kindergarten now!
Thursday was the Fourth of July!! One of our favorite holidays to spend together! We started our day bright and early at the parade in Provo. David and Andrew were nice enough to sleep out on the street to save us a spot.
Adam and Tessa were thrilled with all of the free stuff they got while we waited for the parade to start.
David and Danny
We had fun dancing in the streets before the parade stared. Adam kept running right into the middle of the crowd and dancing his little heart out. Mainly to try and win some prizes.
Ares had some sweet moves too. Tessa had fun dancing with Uncle David.
Adam cheered loud and proud for our Cougars and Tessa blew lots of kisses to each and every princess.
Halfway through the parade, Tessa decided she had had enough and tried to take a nap.
In the afternoon, we went up to Ma and Pa's house for our annual 4th of July barbeque. After we ate, Uncle David and Uncle Matt were nice enough to spend a couple of hours playing soccer with all the kids! My kids are so lucky to have so many good aunts and uncles on both sides of the family who play with them all the time.
Later in the evening we met up with our Nielson family to watch the Stadium of Fire fireworks. We had fun visiting, playing with Koko, and lighting some fireworks of our own. Gwen loved the fireworks! We had a fun evening together!!
They totally crashed on the way home!
We had big plans for the weekend, but we nixed all of our plans and decided to take it easy and just enjoy being home together. Friday, we took Adam and Tessa to the movies (something we rarely do) and saw Monsters University. Gwen got to play with Ma and Pa.
Saturday morning, we got up bright and early to see the hot air balloons. Apparently, due to the storm the night before, they cancelled the balloons. Normally if they can't get the balloons in the air, they will still blow the balloons up on the field. This year, there was nothing. We were pretty disappointed, but figure it's about making memories. Luckily, the Life Flight Helicopter was at the hospital across the street and they were letting the kids check it out. So, getting up at 6am was sort of worth it:)
No balloons this year....
Another fun week and lots of memories made!
