RIP Patio Table:(

Four years ago we got this patio table and chairs when we bought our house in Roy. We were so excited to use them and have lots of family dinners in our huge backyard. We moved a couple of weeks later and never got to use it while we lived in Roy. The patio set made the next 4 moves with us, living in storage units and garages because we had no yard or patio.
We were thrilled when we moved to our current house because it has a wonderful backyard with some patio space for our little patio set.
We finally got to use it for the first time last weekend! I rushed home from work on Saturday evening, we fired up the grill and had a lovely family dinner outside.
So imagine our devastation on Monday night when we discovered this......
There was a wicked windstorm on Monday! While we were out, the wind demolished our little patio table, along with the rest of our backyard! It looked like a disaster zone. Our table landed in our little garden and it shattered into a million pieces. We are pretty bummed. At least we got to use it once, right?

Tessa's Creation

A few nights ago Eric and I were outside playing baseball with Adam. Tessa had gone inside the house because, heaven forbid, there were bugs outside! This girl does not like bugs at all! However, she does think Tickle Bugs are cute. She is picky about her bugs. Anyway, she had gone inside after seeing a bee in the distance.
When we all went into the house for the night, she said, "Look what I made Mommy! A dinosaur flower!" She had taken several of Adam's dinosaur toys and hung them by their tails from our magazine table. It is hard to tell from the picture, but up close and personal, it did indeed look like a dinosaur flower. Way to be creative Tess!

Adam's Birthday Week!

This past week has been a busy one for our Adam! He tuned 5 on the 25th and has had a lot going on! It has been one big birthday celebration!
Since I am trying to win "Mother of the Year" award this year (just kidding), I made Adam his favorite breakfast the morning of his birthday. Homemade cinnamon rolls and pears. It was all worth it when he exclaimed, "This is the best day ever!" That's pretty good for 7:30 AM!
He got to spend the morning grocery shopping with me and then spent the afternoon doing what he loves the most...riding his bike!
This is what they usually look like when they are outside. Tessa asks Adam if she can run behind him while he rides. She does her best to keep up!
Since he turned 5, that meant he got to go out for his birthday dinner. We went to Brick Oven and he had a hard time deciding between two of his favorite dinners, pizza and bowtie pasta. The pizza won!

He thought it was cool to have the waiters and waitresses sing to him and he loved his dessert! As you can see, he couldn't eat it fast enough!
That evening he got to open a couple of presents. He loved his new "mountain alligator"!
Sunday night we had the families over for a Curious George birthday party! Adam LOVES Curious George!
He was spoiled rotten!
He blew out all 5 candles on his George cupcakes and then filled up on his most favorite dessert. A banana split!
We love having our cousins come and play!
Adam and Ellie

Tuesday was his visit with the doctor to get his check up and shots. He did really well and is so excited to start Kindergarten! He brought Teddy Elephant along to help him be brave.
To finish off our crazy birthday week, last night Adam started baseball! This boy would play baseball all day if his mom and dad had that kind of stamina. Here he is in his new team shirt and hat!
Last night he and daddy got to practice catching and throwing.
(I got to chase Tessa.)

He practiced his batting, some running drills, and they got to throw balls at his coaches face to practice his aim. That is one nice coach if you ask me! We laughed as not one ball actually got to the guys face.
He loved every minute of it and as soon as it was over, started asking when we are going back. It was so cute to watch 15 five year olds do the same goofy things. It will be a fun 4 weeks for him!
Happy 5th Birthday Adam!

Memorial Day 2011

We had a very cool opportunity this Memorial Day. Eric's great uncle, Wendell Twelves, was honored at the Hill Air Force Museum for his military service. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame and a beautiful ceremony was held in his honor. It was raining outside and sadly my camera's were not cooperating, so I didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked.

The cousins had fun running around together!
I was so happy for Aunt Rhea and her family. I have a soft spot in my heart for Aunt Rhea. She was my Relief Society buddy for the first year and half after Eric and I got married. She is such a sweet lady!!

Our darling nephew Zeke! He is too cute for words!

A California Weekend

This month has not gone as I had planned. We had some devastating news a couple of weeks ago. My sweet Aunt Cindy suddenly and tragically passed away. It has been a difficult couple of weeks as my family and I have tried to process everything. It is never easy to lose someone you love, but even more difficult when you don't understand why. She was my Dad's only sister and has always been a wonderful Aunt to me and my kids. We miss her so much!
We had one of our famous whirlwind California weekends last week for her funeral. She has one daughter (my cousin Robin), and Robin asked that we pretty much take charge of the funeral. So it was a fast trip and a busy weekend.
We left bright and early Saturday morning and drove all the way down to L.A. The kids and I traveled with my Aunt Dee, along with my brother David and sister Katy. The kids did amazingly well the entire weekend! We were so blessed because Tessa didn't get sick once!
The kids were grateful to be done driving on Saturday night and got cozy in our hotel room.
Sunday morning we went to the cemetery to visit my grandparents.

My Aunt Cindy was being buried next to my Grandma Lemley and when we got there, they had already dug her grave. If Adam has problems when he is older, my siblings get to pay for his therapy. They had fun trying to throw him in the grave. (It wasn't that deep since she was cremated....)

Tessa wanted her picture next to the flower cat

When we pulled into town, Robin had a bag full of gifts for the kids. She bought Tessa this Dodgers dress and was thrilled to see that I let Tess wear it to the graveside service. We all love our Dodgers!! Aunt Cindy was a big Dodger fan too!

Right after the graveside service Monday morning, we headed back home. We stopped in St. George for the night and the kids were thrilled to get some pool time!!

Tessa and Katy and Adam and Kevin
Tessa loves her Grandpa's! My poor Dad was so tired from driving, but that didn't stop him from staying up way too late to draw pictures with Tess.
Now we are home and move on with life. There is so much happening with my family the next month and a half! I hope I can keep up with it all!

Adam is 5!

Our sweet boy turned 5 this week! Where has the time gone? He loves being a big boy and is such a good helper to Mom and Dad and a wonderful big brother.
We love you so much Bug-a-Boo!
