Happy Fall!!

We love this time of year and are so glad the weather is finally cooling down a little bit! It has been so hot!
Tessa had a fun week at Mommy School. This week we talked about our bodies and being healthy.
She put together a skeleton puzzle that was just about Tessa size.

We learned about the letter B.
Tess loves story telling and so I have been making props for the books we read during Mommy School. This week we read "The Very Hungry Caterpillar".

We talked about healthy food and unhealthy food. Sadly, I don't think that will make a difference in her diet.
Adam is finally riding his bike! He loves going over the the church parking lot and riding free. He was having such a hard time on our little sidewalk and kept telling us he would just learn how to do it when he was 12. We told him that wasn't an option! One day a couple of weeks ago, Eric took him over to the church parking lot and he literally took off and started riding without any problems! He does really well.... until his chain falls off.
Tess just loves running next to Adam.

 Charming.

Tessa loves riding her "trusty red tricycle", as she calls it.
Autumn mean Oktoberfest! This year we kept it low key and went to Ma and Pa's house for Pa's yummy German food! We had lots of fun eating and visiting and playing some German games.

On Saturday, to celebrate the first day of fall, we made our favorite pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. Bring on the yummy recipes! I love cooking this time of year and am glad that I have such good kitchen helpers!

Adam the Lab Rat

Today was Adam's big day at the dentist. I think I was more nervous than he was. Eric gave him a blessing last night and I probably should have had one too:) When the kids had their check-ups last week, the dentist saw what he thought was decay in 2 of Adam's teeth (the same tooth on each side). The dentist was baffled by this because he checked Adam's teeth and said there wasn't even a pin hole in his teeth for decay to occur. He decided to have Adam come back and see what was going on. He said he would drill into one tooth and see if there was decay inside and if there was, he would just fill both teeth.
Adam has been fascinated by today's procedure. He wanted to know what the shots looked like and what the drills looked like. He did want to take Teddy Elephant, just in case he got a little nervous. They put some laughing gas on him and got him all numb and ready for Dr. Fairbanks. He was perfect and didn't even flinch when they worked on him. The dental assistants told him he had been their best patient all day!
Dr. Fairbanks was completely shocked when he got drilling and found nothing but a perfectly healthy little tooth. He didn't know what to say and told Adam that he had just been their lab rat for the day. We were glad they didn't find anything wrong, but grateful that they were willing to make sure everything was healthy.
I LOVE our dentist!! He is so laid back and easy going and isn't one of those dentist that go looking for problems. I love him even more after today because what should have cost us $130 cost us $0. He put the most expensive filling in Adam's tooth and then told us not to worry about paying anything for the procedure. Seriously love him!
Adam was a brave boy but hated having a numb mouth for several hours. We feel very blessed that so far (knock on wood) our kids haven't had any dental problems. Hopefully our good streak will last for several more years!

Highlights

Here are some of this weeks highlights...
We had so much fun doing Mommy School! Tessa made an "All About Me" book.
She gathered some of her favorite things-feeding her dolls, her pets, playing dress up, watching movies (she and Adam LOVE "My Turn On Earth"), reading, and eating fruit snacks.
We had fun with our book of the week-Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.
We learned about the letter A and Tessa made a giant self portrait. She even added her purple boots.

I caught the kids playing "school" a couple of times over the weekend. All of their animal friends get to join them as students. Adam makes sure they get their recesses in as well.
When Tessa isn't playing with her bff (Camdyn) she, Mommy, and Gwen are usually having some kind of fun together. This particular day Tessa had set up a drive in movie for everyone to watch on her wall.
We went to visit the dentist. My kids love going to the dentist! Both of their teeth look good, except for 2 of Adam's teeth that kind of have his dentist baffled. It looks like there is some decay going on inside the teeth (same tooth on each side) but there is no spot or hole for the decay to enter the tooth. So to see what's going on they are going to do some drilling this next week to figure out what is up. Adam thinks it's super cool he gets to have a shot in his mouth. I seriously have the weirdest children!

Look what she found this week!! She is moving everywhere and into everything!! I finally had to baby proof the house this week and put away everything I didn't want ripped or chewed on. She found the stairs, but can't climb them yet. She is about 2 inches too short to get up the first step, but boy does she try. She is also amazed by the door stoppers and cannot figure out why she can't get them off the wall.

Adam started first grade and grew a mustache! He won some class points for being good and got to pick out a prize. He chose the stick-on mustache. He loves it and has been trying to trick Eric into thinking there is a French man in our house every night when he gets home from work. He greets Eric with, "Bonjour!" Goofy boy. He is doing so well in school! He has received 100% on all of his spelling tests so far and his teacher tested his reading this week so I am anxious to hear what level he is on.
We had a fun BYU party over the weekend to watch our Cougars play the Utes. Not the outcome we had hoped for, but we still had fun. Eric is still plugging away at school and getting ready for finals in a couple of weeks for his first couple of classes. I just started a cooking class this week and am trying to get a million things done at once. I am grateful for the counsel I received this weekend at our Stake Conference as I was reminded that the most precious things I have to worry about now right now are my sweet babies. They keep me busy (and awake most nights) but they sure do make our home a happy and wonderful place!

Tessa's Big Day!

Today was a big day for our Tessa Boo! This morning we started Mommy School and this afternoon she started Preschool with a neighborhood preschool group. She has been so excited to "go to school" like her big brother.

I have some fun things planned for Mommy School this year! We started the year off with an All About Me theme. We are going to have some fun getting to know this spunky little girl.
She wanted to sit at our little table like it was her very own desk.
We did some worksheets and some Tessa activities...more on those another day.
(She wanted to set her pencil sharpener out as a decoration for her desk.)
After a yummy macaroni and cheese lunch (it's what she eats everyday), she packed up her backpack and headed off to Preschool.

 Love those boots Miss Tess!
It's hard not to be sad that my baby girl is growing up so fast, but I love watching how excited she is about learning and growing up. It's going to be a fun year for her!

Football!

Yesterday was another BYU game day and the kids have been so excited for it! Adam and Daddy were able to get tickets to go to the game. They had a blast being in the stadium. The girls stayed home and we had a Cougar party of our own. We made some blue treats, had fun visiting with Aunt Dee and Aunt Katy, and cheered our Cougars on to victory!
Tessa loves to cook! She helped me makes some blue rice krispie treats.

Gwennie sporting her new shirt! She was a good little cheerleader.

The boys had great seats! Besides the heat, they said it was a perfect game!

Adam got a Cougar Tail...he was a happy boy!
Of course he found a place to shoot some hoops during half time.

Adam cheers so loud! It is so fun watching sports with him. He loves his Cougars!

8 Months Old

Our sweet Baby Girl turned 8 months old on Monday the 3rd. She is growing and changing so much. She has been crawling for a couple of weeks now and this week, she started pulling herself up onto some furniture. She loves to stand at the ottoman and play with whatever she can get her hands on. She loves everything she isn't supposed to have or get into...my cookbooks, the scriptures, paper, remotes, phones, and any toys that Brother and Sister are playing with. If something gets taken away from her, she is very sure to let you know how unhappy she is about that! She still has no teeth and night time is still pretty rough for both Gwen and Mommy, but we are trying to work on that for Mommy's sanity's sake.
She is still trying to figure out how to eat a regular banana (she gags on every spoonful) and is not a huge fan of carrots or peaches. She loves everything else though and is still a champion at nursing.
We love her smiles and giggles and love that she is discovering her independence. She is starting to thin out a  bit and that makes us a little sad cause we sure loved her chunkiness. Chunky or not, she is super cute and full of personality. We love her to pieces!
