Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!!

We have had a fun week celebrating Dr. Seuss! His birthday was Saturday, but we decided to celebrate all week long!
We pulled out all of our Dr. Seuss books. "Wacky Wednesday"
is Tessa's favorite Dr. Seuss book and Adam's favorite is, "Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can you?"
Tessa did a 10 apples up on top experiment after we read the book.

We worked on our patterns and cutting skills by coloring some Cat in the Hat hats.

While Adam was at school, Tessa made some Green Eggs and Ham treats for an after school snack.

We made our favorite Oobleck. Once again, my kitchen was a disaster afterwards, but they had fun making it that way. Even Gwen loved playing with it.

We made hand print Thing 1 and Thing 2.

We played Pin the heart on the Grinch.

We made Green Eggs and Ham for breakfast one morning.
Tessa did a One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish activity.

On Saturday, we made our favorite Cat int the Hat pizza for lunch and had a pizza party while we watched "The Lorax"
Tessa made the pizza because Adam couldn't be torn away from the neighborhood basketball game.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Adam's Love Note

Yesterday, Adam came home with his first love note. He comes home with several notes a week from his classmates. He is quite the popular boy! I usually have to help him decipher what they say because they are usually a bunch of jumbled letters. When I told him what this particular note was about, he said, "That's awesome!!"
Dear Adam,
Amelia has a crush on you.
From, Lacie

Poor Amelia's secret is out. I find it funny that Lacie was behind it, since I know that Lacie has a crush on Adam too.

February Fun!

We've had us some fun this February. We've been sick....again! We are all so anxious for spring to come. The kids want to play outside and go to the park, and I want to air out the house! Despite the illnesses, we have been able to make some fun memories this month.
Adam and Daddy got to go to another BYU basketball game. Adam was sick with a stomach bug, but even that couldn't keep him home from the game. He missed 2 days of school and didn't want to move off the couch, but he was still asking me if he could go play basketball. His Cougars won in an amazing last second win! (I was a good Mommy and watched some of the game on TV so I could  talk to him about it when he got home.)

We got to spend Pa's birthday evening with him. These kids love their Pa! The other day, Tessa told Pa that he was better than any playground!
Gwen loved Pa's birthday cake.

Daddy surprised me with some beautiful flowers.
One of Gwen's new favorite games....hiding the magnets under the fridge and then fishing them out.

Adam's class celebrated his birthday. He got to choose a hat, sit on the saddle, and answer a few "favorite things" questions. Then his classmates got to ask him a few extra questions. He loved it! I got to bring the class some treats and read them Adam's favorite picture book, "Hot Rod Hamster".
Gwen loves building and knocking down towers. I love that she sits with her legs crossed.
Tess got to go on a field trip to the BYU Art Museum. They looked at a few pictures and got to dress up like the people in the pictures. She loved it!

A Sunday morning game of memory with some favorite friends.
Gwen takes licking her plate clean to a whole new level!
Daddy has been very busy working a lot of over-time and taking midterms. Mommy spends her day pulling Gwen off the baby gate. This is constant!!! She finally flipped herself over the other night when I walked away for 2 seconds. Thankfully, she wasn't hurt, but it scared me to death! She still thinks she can fly down the stairs, so hopefully in the next few months she will be ready to learn how to safely go down the stairs. This gate needs to come down for my own sanity!! She is such a monkey and is into everything! She keeps me on my toes-literally!

Adam's Tooth!

Thursday afternoon was an exciting one for Adam! He finally lost his first tooth!! He has been so anxious for his teeth to start falling out and his wish finally cam true! He didn't even realize it had fallen out. I noticed it before he did. We figured it fell out while he was eating an apple (his 2nd for the afternoon) and we eventually found it on the floor where he had been eating.

You can see how sweaty and dirty he is from playing basketball all afternoon.
His new tooth is front and center, ready to move into place.

He has a nice Tooth Fairy, who brought him a nice, crisp dollar bill! He was thrilled!!

President's Day 2013

I was so nice to have a Monday off! And by "off" I mean, Adam didn't have any school. Daddy still had to work and Mommy got housework and laundry done (all my Monday chores). We had some fun though for President's Day. We started the day off with some George Washington pancakes.

Adam and Tessa played a president's matching game and colored some pictures of George Washington.
We read some fun books about some of our presidents. We read a fun one about Abe Lincoln and his tall hat. We made some hats just like his. I also showed the kids my pictures from visiting Washington DC, Lincoln's law office in Springfield, Illinois, and Lincoln's Tomb.

They made their Presidential decrees! Tessa said if she were president, she would go to Disneyland everyday. Her picture is of her on a ride at Disneyland.
Adam's is so Adam. Everything is all about basketball!
It was a slightly warmer yesterday (40 degrees) and so we spent some time playing outside. Eric was able to get Adam's hoop set up from Christmas and he is LOVING it!!

To end our President's Day, we had an all American dinner of Hamburgers, French Fries, and Root Beer Floats. It was nice to have all my kids home with me all day and that makes me so anxious for summer! Adam's 3 day weekend was extended for a day or two when his tummy got sick in the middle of the night last night. Hopefully he will be over this bug quick! He is dying to play basketball-even when he is sick!
