Summer of Fun-Week 2

We have had a busy, busy week!! Here is a peek at what we did.
I have been walking with some friends in the morning. I love my early morning walks and I love my view! Being up with the sun feels so good...most days.
Monday was a sad day as we said goodbye to our friends, the Permann's. Adam is going to miss his basketball buddies.
 Gavin and Adam
 Braden and Adam
Tessa and Zach
For our "Make Something Monday", we made snowballs and had a summertime snowball fight.
We mixed together cornstarch and shaving cream and had a mixture that we formed into balls.

Once we had our balls made, the "snowball fight" began!

Gwen liked playing with the leftovers.

 Tuesday, Tessa started gymnastics!

For our "Take a Trip Tuesday", we went to the Library.
Tuesday was picture day for baseball.
Gwen had her first ice cream cone and she loved it!
"Wet and Wild Wednesday" started off with a game of miniature golf with Ma, Andrew, and Ares. I love the way my kids play. Someday I'll teach them the rules.

We spent the afternoon out back in the pool. Gwen would get in and climb right back to come tell me one of her stories. Then go back and get in just to get right back out again to come tell me something else. She repeated this for about 45 minutes!

After swimming, Adam and Tessa wanted another ice cream cone. Gwen wasn't satisfied with her go-gurt. She knew what she was missing out on!

Adam set up an obstacle course in his room to practice his shooting from different angles.
I married a good man! Even though he had mountains of homework, I found him bathing the girls after I finished the dinner dishes. He's a keeper!
"Thinking Thursday" took us to story time at the library. They read fun dinosaur books and made some dinosaur masks.

Adam started an art class.

Tessa was invited to Kate's birthday party Thursday afternoon, and she was thrilled to get a pet fish as a party favor! It's a red beta fish and Tessa has named her, Priscilla.
Daddy wasn't able to make it to Adam's games this week, so it was Mommy and the girls to cheer him on. Gwen is less than fun to wrangle during the games. I was thankful that she found a good place to play during Thursday's game. In my park bag.
"Fabulous Fun Friday" was full of things to do! We spent the morning doing our grocery shopping, which is always a challenge with Gwen who refuses to stay in the shopping cart! I have to remind myself that someday, it will be easier....
In the afternoon, we took a bike ride down to the river. Adam and Tessa love to throw rocks  in the water.

We did a science experiment and made underwater fireworks. Thankfully, Adam and Tessa were impressed.

Daddy was at school all weekend, so we made Friday night our movie night.
Saturday we got to visit with some cousins from California and Adam and Tessa got to spend a couple hours playing with Pa while Mommy and Gwen went to a bridal shower. When we got home, we made a new recipe for Sunday dessert.
Sunday was a special day! Tessa gave her very first primary talk and she did a wonderful job!!
We were also lucky enough to have the missionaries come have dinner with us! Elder Messer and Elder Olsen were good sports as we asked them a billion questions (including who was their favorite NBA team-Adam's very important question) so we could get to know them a little better. Tessa drew them a picture and once again, tried to kiss poor Elder Olsen. It was nice to have them in our home and we hope we get to have them back soon!
So many other things happened that I didn't get pictures of....play dates, playing outside, hair cuts, etc. We have big plans for next week already! We are loving our summer!!

Summer Sports

Summer is in full swing around here, and that means lots of sports! Adam is playing baseball and going to basketball camp this summer. He is loving baseball right now and playing so well. His little team is pretty good and they work well together! I love listening to them cheer each other on while they wait for their turn to bat.

Tessa is taking gymnastics this summer. She has been so excited and waiting for months to start. Tuesday was her first day and she loved it! It brought back so many memories for me. I took gymnastics when I was her age and loved it! It was like watching myself in a mirror....

I had to take these pictures through glass with my phone. Hopefully, I'll get better pictures in a week or two.

Gwen can't be left out of the sporting fun. Her favorite sport is using Mommy as a jungle gym. If I sit down to read to the kids or have devotional in the morning, she is crawling all over and flipping herself over my legs. This is why it takes me 6 months to read a book these days. If I need to get something done, it has to be done standing, otherwise this monkey is all over me. She sure is a cute little monkey though!

Summer of Fun-Week 1

We have had a fun and busy week for our first official week of summer! Monday was Memorial Day ( I already wrote about that). Monday night, Adam got to have a sleepover with Aunt Katy for his birthday. On Tuesday, she took Adam to see a movie and they had fun hanging out together. Adam also had his well check with Dr. Cathy on Tuesday. She declared him a perfectly healthy 7 year old boy! Tessa and Gwen had a boring day at home with Mommy. I had chores to catch up on:)
Wednesday we ran some errands and got the kids signed up for the summer reading program at the Library. (We are doing our own little version at home too.) Adam has already read 4 chapter books this week.
Wednesday we had also had a very special opportunity. We helped welcome home an American hero. A couple of weeks ago, Cody Towse, an Army Medic serving in Afghanistan, was killed by a bomb explosion. He and his family are from Elk Ridge, Utah, a small town south of Spanish Fork. His body arrived at the Provo airport on Wednesday, and thousands of people lined the streets from Provo to Elk Ridge to pay their respects to this brave young man. We were a few of those thousands. The kids were really good as we waited for 2 hours for the procession to make it's way down Spanish Fork Main Street. I was amazed at how many people were there. It was a moment I will never forget and I hope that my kids understood a little bit of how special that afternoon was for us. It was amazing and heartbreaking all at the same time. No one made a sound as Cody's body drove by. But the spirit was so strong and for a minute we all felt like one giant family, mourning a brother. Truly an amazing moment!

This week, Adam and Tessa got to work on their summer journals.

Adam is doing great with his baseball games! We are cheering him on every Tuesday and Thursday nights. More on those soon...
This week brought fun bike rides to the river and since we had some awesome rainstorms, we had some cool bugs to study.
Friday brought play dates and birthday parties! There is always something going on!
Saturday, we got to attend a blessing and a baptism! Cute Ellie was baptized and adorable August was blessed. It was a fun day with family and we had fun driving up to our old neck of the woods.
Gwen was more tolerant than usual and actually let other people hold her. She even let Great Grandma Nielson have a turn.
 Tessa loved Ellie's dress!
All the cousin's that were there from both sides of the family.
Tessa, Ellie, Zeke, Adam, and Gwen
One of our favorite families!
It was a great week to start our summer!
