Spring Break 2015

It should have lasted longer. Sleeping in on some mornings was glorious!!

But, we are grateful for the break we had. We got to do a few fun things!

Monday was laundry day. The kids all got to have a lazy TV/play in the backyard day while Mommy got caught up on chores and laundry after Easter weekend. 

Tuesday we went to the Bean Museum with Ma, Andrew and Ben. The kids loved running around and looking at all animals.

The kids even got to touch a real lion head. Tessa wasn't so sure at first, but decided to give it a try.

After the Museum we went and got some ice cream and went to visit Pa at work. 

Wednesday was a rainy day. Caleb had a doctor's appointment that day, the girls got to go play with some friends and we went to Mamma and Bampa's house for a while in the afternoon. 

That evening, Tessa and Mommy got to sneak away for a movie date to see Cinderella. We had a fun time just being together. It doesn't happen often enough. 

Thursday we went to the Curiosity Museum and had such a fun time! 

The kids got to have a sleepover at Ma and Pa's house and Friday they got to hang out with Daddy while Mommy helped Mamma get ready for her yard sale. 

Saturday, Daddy, Adam and Tessa hike to the Y. Tessa was so excited to go with the boys. Daddy said she did great and made it the whole way!

Saturday afternoon, Mommy and Daddy got to sneak away for a date and saw Les Miserables at the Hale. It was a beautiful production and so nice to get out together. 

Only 9 more weeks of school. We are ready for summer!!

Eclipse 2015

On Saturday morning, we woke Adam and Tessa up bright and early in the morning so see the Lunar Eclipse and Blood Moon. We woke up early enough to see the moon turn completely red. It was quite a sight! Adam and Tess both recently finished up units on Astronomy at school and they are both fascinated by our Universe. The evening before they had been quizzing each other on Astronomy facts. Tessa thought it was cool to see, but promptly went back to bed. Adam wanted to watch it as long as he could. We finally sent him back to bed after watching the moon for about 45 minutes. He then spent the rest of the morning reading about Astronomy and the Eclipse. (He was supposed to go back to sleep.)

It was cool to see it though! Kind of makes me think of signs of the Second Coming....when the moon will turn to blood. 

Easter 2015

We had a happy Easter this year. We were thankful to spend some extra special time during this past week to focus on our Savior and the wonderful gift of the Atonement and Resurrection. We watched "The Lamb of God" for FHE last week and it totally traumatized Gwen, so it has been good to review things with her throughout the week and I am so grateful that we have been able to teach her that Jesus doesn't have "ouchies"anymore.

We squeezed a few fun activities in this week too. The kids had fun making bunny masks. 

 We made some fun and delicious Easter cookies. 

We colored Easter eggs.

 Gwen was amazed that they turned colors. 

 Caleb was just happy to bounce and watch us do our thing. 

With Easter magic in the air this week, the kids planted jelly beans to see if they would grow. 

 It's always a surprise to see their jelly beans grow into lollipops!

 The Easter Bunny did not disappoint this year! He brought them all baskets full of goodies and junk food. 

 Caleb got a sneak peak at his basket before the other kids came downstairs. 

 Tessa wastes no time "sampling" her candy.

 The Easter Bunny left the kids eggs to find around the house because it was a little chilly outside. 

 

 Gwen had to inspect the bunny tracks that were left all over our house.

 Saturday afternoon we went to Ma and Pa's house, where the kids got to have another egg hunt with their cousins. 

 Gwen was happy to find jelly beans inside her eggs.

 

 It was a fun weekend for these kiddos, but most of all we are so thankful to know the true meaning of Easter. We are thankful to know that because our Savior lives, we can be forgiven and comforted, we can be with our family that has passed on before us, and we can be together forever. What a wonderful gift that is!
