Happy Halloween!!

We had a fun Halloween with the little ones. On Thursday night we carved our pumpkin. At first Adam was freaked out by the insides, but then he decided the gooey pumpkin felt cool.
He insisted I draw ears on the pumpkin-go figure

Adam and I made bug cupcakes for our Halloween party. He would put the candy on the cupcakes and then take them off and eat them when I wasn't looking.

Showing off cute Halloween socks-thanks Aunt Cindy!

Our cute little Tessa was a cheerleader for her first Halloween. She wore my first Halloween costume. It was a little big on her, but she still looked super cute!!!

Adam decided on being a dragon and when we tried to take pictures of the kids together, Adam started to "eat the princess". Needless to say, the princess wasn't too happy.

Tessa took a nap in the car while Adam went trick or treating.
The dragon with all of his loot. He called trick or treating "ding dong". When we got home he said, "More ding dong please!".

Eight Week Check Up

Tessa saw her doctor today for her eight week check up. He was glad to see how well she was doing and said that she is a healthy little girl. She weighed 9 lbs (9 lbs 1 1/2 oz on our scale) and is 22 1/2 inches long. She is in the 10th percentile for her weight and the 50th for her height. He said she will probably just be a little girl-somebody has to be the small kid in the class. So much for me getting my chubby baby. I talked with him about our breastfeeding challenge and he encouraged me to keep trying and said that if I could give her breast milk through the winter, that would be ideal. That will keep me going a bit longer.
Adam had a funny moment at the doctors office. He has been asking to go back to see the doctor since I took him in on Monday. He keeps coming up with things that are wrong with him and says, "I need doctor!" So today when I put Tessa down on the exam table Adam said quietly, but loud enough for us to hear, "No baby Tess, my doctor." I laughed so hard! If that is the only thing he has a problem sharing, I think we are pretty lucky.

Goodbye summer!

This week the air turned cold here in Idaho and I am afraid that summer has left us. Tessa was able to wear almost all of her summer outfits and this was the last one she will wear for the year. She is finally wearing 0-3 and some 3-6 month clothes. She is getting long. We have had another frustrating weekend. I tried taking her off the bottle and just breastfeeding. Friday she didn't want anything to do with me, but Saturday she breastfed all day just fine. Sunday morning we weighed her and she had lost an ounce and a half. That was so frustrating to me!! Then Sunday she wouldn't breastfeed at all again. To make things worse, Sunday night came around and I had totally lost my milk supply! Why can't things just work correctly right now? Including my daughter!! So I have been trying to get my milk back for the last two days and have been trying to get in to see a lactation specialist, but I am not having a lot of luck with that. There are days (a lot of them) where I am ready to just give up. It's a good thing she is so cute! My mom came up for a couple of days last week so I could take a couple of naps. It was so nice to have her here and so nice to sleep!! As if there wasn't enough going on, poor Adam is sick with croup this week. He is having a hard time with not getting enough attention. His new thing is coloring. He spends a good chunk of his day coloring and he is pretty good at staying in the lines for a two year old. Tessa has her 8 week check up on Thursday and her blessing is on Sunday. We will let you all know how things go. She should hit 9 pounds tomorrow!!! You have no idea how happy that
makes us. I told her she better be as good as I was when she is a teenager after putting me through all of this.

New Update

It has been a while since we gave an update....but we have good news to report! Tessa is doing so much better! We made it to her six week birthday this past Saturday and she made it over the 8 pound mark yesterday! She is eating so much better, but still will not nurse-that is our next battle. She finally has meat on her bones and she looks so much better. She started smiling on Monday and that has made the last 6 weeks all worth the hard work. She has Eric wrapped around her fingers already. He thinks she is the prettiest thing he has ever seen!
She is still my snuggle bug!

As for the rest of us...Adam is such a blessing!! He was glad to be home and sleep in his big boy bed after being with Grandma's and Grandpa's for a week and a half. (I couldn't have done any of this without them!) He is talking so much and so clearly. He sings all of the time and is such a good helper. He is really good with Tessa although I think he freaks her out. He is in love with trains, dinosaurs and the Magic School Bus. We watch The Land Before Time almost every day. His cousin Mya surprised him with lots and lots of cars and he has been in heaven with those. Having new toys has been a wonderful distraction which has helped when I need to give my attention to Tessa. Thank you Courtney!
Eric is doing well and still enjoying his job. His boss has been so great to give him time off when i have needed help at home. That would have never happened in St George!
I am still on survival mode. I am still only getting 4-5 hours of sleep a night. A really great night is 6 hours!! I have been sleeping through my alarm for about 2 weeks now, but luckily Tessa is waking up at night to eat and that does wake me up. I have been fighting a cold for a week and had a blocked milk duct over the weekend that was beyond painful. I was about ready to give up after that. I just don't have time to heal from anything. Eric told me on Sunday he wanted more babies. All I could do was laugh! (The past 6 weeks haven't been quite so hard on him.) Even though things have been hard, we have been very blessed and realize that things could have been a lot worse. I am so grateful to be a mommy!
